15th June 2021

On 15th June, we were explained about the details of what the website making would be like which was said to us in the last class. Mr.Paterson showed us some videos of the last years student. All groups had a main topic of a certain type of issue occurring in the world. The members described the issue clearly and elaborated by raising up the issue occurring in 4-5 countries. All country had different reasons for the the issue and the situation was completely different. One video customized the video like a news, wearing casual clothings and informing the issues of the country they are in charge of. After watching the video, we grouped ourselves into groups of 4 and started to discuss what our main topic will be. My group wasn’t able to decide the main topic by the time the class ended, but we gave quite a lot of ideas including BLM, hate crime, discrimination (gender, age , race ,beliefs...). The website is due till the next after nexts lesson. The school test is coming in a few w...

9th June 2021

On 9th June 2021, we shared what our group members came up on 8th June's class with people from other groups. Other people mentioned that making students write blogs at the end of the lesson will allow students recall back what they have done when they forget them in the future. Others said that they they will make the students research about the issue first and tell them the reality at the end of the lesson so that they would be suprised at the fact. This allowed me to understand what kind of ideas could be given besides what my group had came up with. Before the lesson ended, Mr.Paterson told us that we would be given an assignment of creating a website in a group of 4. We must focus on one topic and write down the issue of that topic occuring in countries all around the world.

8th June 2021

On 8th June 2021, we were divided into groups to discuss what kind of lessons we would do if we were a teacher. We gave out opinions of the process of how the lesson will go throughout and what we would want the students to learn. After sharing all the ideas, we listed them up on documents and elaborated each of them clearly. My group decided to have a schedule in an order of introducing the issue, knowing how the issue occurred, researching both the possitive and negative information about the issue and finally sharing their opinion and what they have learned to their friends by organizing a group activity. By this, students will be able to understand clearly about the issue and get stimulated by hearing others ideas. From this lesson, I was noticed how lessons are executed by the teachers everyday.

3rd June 2021

Today, we watched a long documentary called "Palestine is still the isssue" created by an Australian journalist named John Pilger. The documentary contained films which showed the Palestine Government Office being attacked terribly by the Israels. Other showed Israel soldiers capturing Palestinians and breaking their bones everywhere including the leg, arms and the head. Story of a woman's new born baby dying due to the Israels blocking their way to the hospital, ambulance carer becoming a suicide bomber being the trigger to kill people whose life could have been saved, and the reality of the checkpoint, where the Israels have the authority to decide when to open the gate, who could pass through the gate and to kill the people who attempts to climb over the huge wall equiped with electric wires and surveillance tower everywhere. Everyone who was watching this documentary thought that this was nonsence.   The footage was far beyond my expectations and, the more I looked, t...

2nd June 2021

In today's class, we were splited into two groups to have a glance on several articles from different websites. After searching up on the internet for a while, my group and I shared the details of what the articles we saw contained.   One thing which suprised me was that both the article my partner and I read couldn't be found on the website we searched up. Adding on, my friend who was seated next to me said that the detail of the article he found was mostly wrong copared to the article his partner had found. Other than this, some websites published the same issue, but the way they wrote was completely different. One had affirmed the issue, writing down possitively while the other criticized the article, using negative and strong expression giving the reader a bad impression of the situation. I believe the reason for this is because of the difference of the point of view. From one country, they could've have perceived a negative impact of the issue resulting in publishing...

1st June 2021

Because we had an extra lesson on Wednesday, those who were attending the class on that day were asked to share what we did to those who were not present in the class. Mr.Paterson seemed to have wanted to know how well we remembered the incident and how specifically we could explain to others. As I explained the incident to other people, I found it quite difficult to explain as clearly as possibe. Adding on, I had some fear that there could be some mistakes in my explanation which could lead in others to obtain incorrect information. After sharing with others, Mr.Paterson mentioned us a incident called "Byopal disaster" which occured in India in 1984. This incident occured by when a toxic gas was leaked from a Bhopal pesticide plant of US company which killed more than 4,000 people and injured about 400,000. The cause was technical, structural, and human negligence due to the reduction of operating funds. Following to the overview, we were told about the background. Union Ca...

26th May 2021

Today, we started the lesson by searching up a man named Steven Donziger from three different newspaper article, New York Times, Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.  My group was ordered to gather information from the Wall Street Journal . As we searched up articles related to Steven Donziger, there were a total of three articles. Eventually, I learned that Steven Donziger was a New York lawyer who once stood against Chevron Corp to win 9.5 billion dollar for the environmental damage by an oil contaminination which took place in Ecuador in 1993. After researching in our divided groups, we were split into three so that we all had a chance to hear what was written in other newspaper company's article. In my group, it was said that Steven Donziger was written as a possitive man in Washington Post with a bit of critisism at the end of the article. Just by hearing this, I thought that Washington Post had a good image of Steven Donziger. I thought that his action in fighting aga...
