16th September 2021

Today’s class started off by Mr.Paterson talking about a country’s royalty trying to find a woman from a different country to have a different blood type children. I learned that the reason for why muslim womans wear long clothes and often hide their face is to prevent people from looking at their face and to lower the risk of being kidnapped. By hiding their face, kidnappers would be confused in which woman to kidnap. Also, Mr.Paterson mentioned that woman are not allowed to go outside without a reliable man besides them.     After that, we continued on with the discussion from yesterday. Today, we discussed mainly on progressive and conservative. At first, I thought that consevative idea has much more benefits than progressive. Conserving cultures and traditions means that we are inheriting the past ideas and keeping them important.  However, as I continued on the discussion, I eventually realized the importance of having progressive ideas. Given examples wer...

On 15th September 2021, we were dividend into three different groups and discussed about what a equal voting system would be like.   My group first came up with “geniocracy” which simply means to vote from the elite members of the group. Everyone agreed to this idea, however one member had an doubt of how to make it equal. Each people have their own lifestyle such as going to tuition or going to a sports community. Not all the people would be able to spend the exact same lifestyle. In order to come up with a solution, we came up with an idea to let the candidates spend a close lifestyle from their young age. Each personality would eventually appear as they get old, so there would be no such difference in the environment they would grow up in.

On 14th September, we were told about the company “Coca Cola”. First, Mr.Paterson introduced us an murdering incident which occurred within the Coca Cola company. The detail was about several employee complaint to the company about their working environment. As the employees complained, the company didn’t even care, as losing a few of their employees won’t affect their business. In order to do something, the employees thought that a group of employees complaining would have a large effect in the company business and would tilt their ears to them. Before the large group of employees complained, the company determined the two boss of the organization and killed them in the manufacturing area.  After that, we watched a video of a coin being sunk inside a container filled with Cola. Thirty minutes later, the coin was taken from the container. As I looked closely to the coin, the rust had completely fallen. From this video, we learned that Cola has the possibility of bringing heal...

In today’s class, we were told about bias news and how elections are conducted. As soon as the lesson started, we seacrhed up news on fox and the guardian. We searched up two article with titles of "Anti-logging protest becomes Canada's biggest ever act of civil disobedience" and "Dem Senate candidate hit with 4 felony charges for allegedly stealing $21,000 from campaign, lying about it". While reading through these articles,  I was able to distinguish the biased article and the non-biased one. As a personal opinion, I thought that it is a natural thing for newspaper or news companies to add in their personal thoughts or impresions in the article. However, changing the main content of the article would lead in readers to get the wrong idea and act based on the false facts.  After reading the article, we learned the different types of methods to decide the elections in different countries. One of them were the “Run off electors” mainly used in the African countri...

8th September 2021

In today’s class, we  discussed the political issue which happened during the year 2002 and 2003. Many ideas including th 9.11 terrorism attack and the Iraq war were raised.  Other than this, we were told about the NNPT. NNPT, in other words,  Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is a multilateral treaty aimed at limiting the spread of nuclear weapons including three elements of non-proliferation, disarmament and peaceful use of nuclear energy. Although most of the countries are following the regulations, US, UK, France, China and Russia also called as the P5 are still creating nuclear weapons which has the possibility to cause threat to humanlife in the near future.  No matter how many countries cooperate to stop using nuclear weapons, I thought that there would be no meaning as long as the mainly developed countries stop the production.
