21st October 2021

Once I came into the class, the first thing I saw was a numerous number written on the whiteboard. "US 1-3 years   50000 people cancer   $280000000"  and  "Vie 50+years  3000000 people cancer $0" were written. In class, we were told that these numbers were the amount of the patients who had cancer due to the affect of the war and the compensation they got from the opposing country.   Specifically, US had a war with Vietnam for 1~3 years leading in more than 50000 people to get cancer. US is said that they received $280000000 from Vietname as the compensation. On the other hand, Vietname had wars for nearly 50+ years leaing in more than 3000000 people to have cancer. Compared to US, Vietnam had longer war periods and the number of those who became cancer were almost 60 times the amount. Due to the chemical pollution from the US, diseaces were spreaded in areas where local Vietnam citizens were living. Without regarding the amount of poll...

Today's lesson was a huge surprise for me.  When poor country wants to build hospital and roads to improve their standard of living for their citizens, they have to borrow money from the rich. However, once the rich lends money, they orders the poor country to build powerplants to develop their industry.  Poor country have to sell resources such as water and oil in order to return debts from the first . When the environment is made, companies from the rich country comes and builds factory which won't take any responsibility of natural pollutions. Other than this, the rich country does not have to pay taxes in change of the debt. One example is the free trade zone. Because the rich country has priority basis, they have the freedom to do what ever they want to without  having the need to take responsibility and tax fees. After that , Mr.Paterson mentioned the Bolivia water war. The video we watched in class had images of local citizens protesting the army which lead many pe...

Today, I first of all learned the Japan's food scandal including the Shiro Koibito, Snow Brand Milk, Meat Hope, McDonald experiment and the Hankyu hotel scandal. I found these food scandals unbelievable as these foods such as McDonalds are eaten quite often in my dairylife and because I had the thought that Japan's food were safe. After talking about the fodd scandal, the topic changed to World System Theory created by  Emmanuel Wallerstein. I learned that countries are classifyed into 3 different groups, Core country which has money and high power, Semi Periphery country which has average money and power,  Periphery country with poor money and low power.  Besides the World System Theory, Mr.Paterson taught us the Kondratiev wave. Once I heard this word, I couldn't understand it's meaning at all. However, as I searched it up , I found that it was a Wave with a cycle of 50~60 years, which have been seen in movements such as prices, interest rates, and production volu...

Today, we watched a video called the「Meatrix」. It was a video about an cow and a chicken soliciating an pig and telling the reality of the factory farming. The part when the pigs were put into small spaced cages, and being processed into meats were quite frightening to watch.  The video said that this factory farming is conducted in almost every country, so when I imagined that in my head, it was a horryiying sight. This video ended in the 10 years time world. In that world, the situation had gotten better, however the situation of the factory famring had not became completely lost. I believe that factory farming are conducted near to me , just that I haven't realized yet. After watching this video, I thought that I should broaden my horizen of view so that I can realize the true facts of these issues.

In this lesson, I learned the reality of the International Justice System. China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States called as the 5P country had the most power and had the rights to decide most of the choices without lending their hears to the small nation countries. Because these country have their individual idea and thoughts, it is very difficult for all 5 country to agree to an choice.

In this lesson, the first thing we did in class was to do a trust test within a mini group. The questions were whether to cooperate in a task given in school and to whether to cooperate in a project in a company.  Decision1:  I would cooperate. All of my group members are from the same class and one of them was in the same class as last year. I have no issue in having friendship between each other. Every group member are discipline and diligent enough for me to trust each other and cooperate. Although my scores might get low, I would like to keep friendships important as high school will end quite fast. Decision2:  I would cooperate. By cooperating, not only our salary increases, but the efficiency of the company would increase. Doing jobs alone wouldn’t be comfortable and suitable for me to sustain my motivation in the work. Also, I don’t think there would be any betrayer within my group. As my group members and I shared our thoughts, there was 1 betrayer for ...
