In this lesson, we were told about how Scotland was treated in the UK. Some examples were Scotland made small in the BBC world map and news telling fake facts about the country. Scotland used to hold 8% of the UK population, 5% of the UK land are and 66% of the UK sea area. Despite being treated poorly, Scotland played a huge role to the UK.

In 1999, England moved the sea boarder line, leading in Scotland to have a smaller sea area then they used to have. If Scotland becomes independent, they can take back their sea area as they aren’t classified as the same country. Plus, they can keep the oil, water, electricity by themselves leading for the country to have the chance to become the top richest countries in the world. After hearing these facts, I had the thought that there are lots of merits for Scotland becoming an independent country.

There were attempts for Scotland trying to become independent. In the year 2014, Scotland had the independence vote. However, more than half of the votes were “no” resulting in Scotland  still being the member country of the US.
