Today, we watched a short video about the reality of the relationship between the media and the truth. America's farmer started to use a chemical called Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) on cows which had the affect of increasing the amount of milk the cow could produce. Once the safety was confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Adminisstration (FDA), many American farmers injected this chemical to its cows to increase their profits. However, it turned out that the milk from the rBGH cowm wasn't tested enough and was found out that the milk from the injected cow had human health affectness such as cancer. Despite being scientifically proven that the milk product had health affectness by other country's scientist, the company didn't tell the media and hide the fact within their company. As a result, most of the American citizens continued buying these milk products without knowing that it had health affectness. Luckily, this incident was solved by the brave action taken by some of the news reporters and the fact was widely spread among the citizens.
After watching this video, I couldn't believe that a food product company would hide a necessary fact which all people must have to know. As a food product company, I strongly think that they should always have the responsibility to sustain people's health and to report the truth based on the fact to everyone who has the right to know. Overall, I learned a lesson that there are possibility of the media not pressing the truth in order to maintain a satisfactory relationship with the opponent. From today onwards, I would like to compare multiple news and be more cautious about the news details so that the information I could receive would be more reliable.
